You know the big, clear buckets of ice cream? Well, I need some of those buckets for putting up my fish. I clean my bluegill and cook them whole. Their fins poke holes in plastic bags not to mention how hard it is to stack different shaped blocks of ice in ziplock baggies. If any of you have a supply of these buckets, I'd be willing to buy them from you. PM me if you do.

Preacher if you don't find the ice cream buckets you can use the Ziploc freezer containers. They have several sizes and the panfish fins would not puncture them. Wally and the dollar stores has them.

I looked last night at Wally world and at the Dollar General but they don't have those in gallon sizes. I could also use the containers that restaurants get their mayo and mustard in. They just throw those away I'm sure.

A simple solution...I have a pair of kitchen scissors that I use for tasks simular to yours.  Simplly trim off the sharp fins to leave them approximately 1/8" - 1/4" long.  No sharp points to poke you or your bag.

Another idea Fishinpreacher is to cut a hole in the top side of milk jugs, put in the gills and fill up close to the hole with water.

Thanks guys those are all great ideas. I lucked up today. Went to a craft fair where they were selling apple dumplings with ice cream. I asked the guy what he was doing with the emptys and he was throwing them away! It was like manna boys. He hooked me up with empty ice cream buckets. Ask and you shall recieve.

You done good Rev., now get a fish fry going over at your house and invite us all.

We have a fish fry every July in south Georgia for my wife's family reunion. I've been appointed this year to catch all of the fish to feed the 100+ people who attend every year. So, I've got lots of bluegills, crappie, and catfish to catch, clean, and put up.

Rev, go to wallyworld and go to the bakery, ask for the small white plastic buckets with lids that cake icing comes in, they will give you all you want and they even wash em for you. The small buckets look to be around 2 gal size. They will give you the 5 gal buckets also.
