Nice collection,I don't know where these stupid artifact laws might affect this post. I only know a little, but a friend of mine was art. hunting in Al. and the Game warden caught him and made him turn them over or face legal action.
But looking at your stuff, it looks like you probably know what's going on!

Good luck and I hope things get better for you.

yes it is legal they have shows where they sell them and sell them on ebay it is illegal to hunt them on some public land acording to state laws .drag fish gamewarden probley kept them acording to al. law he should have put them back in lake

Wow! Nice collection! My late grandfather had one heck of a collection! They were all passed down to my uncle and my dad when he died. Then my dad's were passed along to me when he died. At one time, Papaw's collection was the largest in the state of GA. He's been in several articles and publications over the years for his. I've never considered selling any of them off, and I probably never would, but I'd be interested to know how much money they are worth. I will have to try and get some pictures up sometime. It is a massive collection to say the least!

Years a go I used to hunt them in newly plowed fields after a rain, this is surface hunting and isn't against the law or I was told this at the time but if you dig them, it is another matter.

Chattanooga Regional History Museum has a comparable collection donated by a collector who spent a lot of time in Doc's neck of the woods scouring the river banks for fire pit carbon and then digging into the bank.

This was in the 40's and 50's before TVA and others decided it was better for these items to be lost forever than collected.

Great looking collection! I would make sure to advertise it in several places before continuing to drop the price too many times. I am not sure if there is very many collectors here. Hope you find somebody to take you up on it. </p>
