Well, most of my gear is packed. Got a load of laundry in the washer now. Shot the smoke-pole today. 1" high and 1/2" left at 80yds. Getting picked up at 8am and heading North on 75! Heading back up to the farm we have rights to in Fayette Co just outside of Connersville. Should get there in time to carry a climber in, strap it to a tree, and settle in for a couple of hours before dark.

Weather looks like it is going to be cooperative, other than the chilly temps....highs between 28-35 for the next 5 days with lows dipping into the mid teens. Gonna have to break out the Hot Hands and Toasty Toes! Calling for snow Saturday. Winds from 8-15 on average. Should be a great weekend to be in the woods up there! From browsing the Indiana forums I have noticed that a lot of folks have been seeing bucks chasing this week from Central to South Indiana with some other reports of does bleeding. Hopefully the stars will align and we can come back with 2 bruisers on Sunday!!!

Last time we were there was Halloween weekend and we saw good numbers of deer. Approx 70 between the 2 of us in 4 days. My uncle and I each passed good bucks....both on accident. The buck I saw should have been put in the truck, but I screwed up and didn't get off a shot at him with the AlphaMax. He was a main frame 8 with stickers and kickers. Only I didn't notice the trash points until he had passed my 1st shooting lane. Then I got a little too excited, let my bow slip off the rail of my climber, at which point he bolted and stopped at about 60 yds and looked back at me. Truly beautiful buck.

My uncle had already flung all his arrows at some does (he was having a tough time) when a 135"-140" 9 point stepped out broadside at 30 yards and toyed with him for 30 minutes until dark. Maybe those two bucks will be willing to show themselves this weekend.

I'm doing a "Live From the Tree" thread over on GON for those of you who might be members over there and might be interested in tagging along for this trip. My name is BlackSmoke over there. I'd love for ya'll to follow along f you can! I still haven't gotten a new BlackBerry, so I will be using my old phone, which isn't great for browsing the net, but I will try and make due well enough to update over there every hour on the hour, or something like that.

Ya'll wish me luck! Hope to bring home some BONE on Sunday!!!

Got skunked guys. Saw plenty of does, but the boys weren't wanting to come out and play. Got to hunt in the snow for the first time, and it was awesome! Deer are a lot easier to pick up when there is a blanket of snow on everything.

Hunted hard from Thurs-Sunday. Sat on the stand for an avg of 9 hours a day. Hunted as hard as I have hunted before, but they just weren't wanting to show their faces. This weekend was the last weekend of black powder up there, so as you can imagine, the bucks were super skiddish after being shot at for the last month.

But it wasn't for a lack of effort. We tried as hard as we possibly could. So I had to eat tag soup yesterday....Actually had to eat two tags up there this year, but that's hunting! Can't wait to get back up there next year!
