Hey guys,
Originally we were going to make the trek to Lake Erie, but severe winds eliminated that possibility. So my best bud Josh and I went fishing on a local private lake where my dad lives. The lake is 250 acres and loaded with tons of channel cats. Also several bass in the 5 lb class and lots of hybrid stripers too. Unfortunately, us in our 12 ft boat with only oars did not stand much of a chance. The lake is primarily sand bottom and we did not anchor very well. We caught a number of bullheads and 4 channel cats. The first pic is of the biggest of the day, a nice 32 inch channel cat. Josh caught a funny looking catfish, maybe some type of bullhead? We also saw one bullhead eating another and brought them in for a second to snap a quick picture. It was pretty cool looking. All the channel cats were caught in about 18 feet of water.
On Saturday we made a trip out on the Ohio River. There was a catfish tournament going on so it was tough to get in some good spots. We caugth 5 fish for the day, and also dealt with severe wind and ripping current. I caught a 11 lb blue, and about a 7 lb channel. Josh caught about a 8 lb channel, a 12 blue, and a 27 lb flathead. Our skipper, otherwise known as my brother in law Andy, did a great job putting us on some fish even though the conditions were rather miserable.
Hope it was warm here, because I was freezing over the weekend!
