Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, you are all probably aware from reading the papers that the fishing industry is in serious trouble, boats sales are off 15%, big box fishing reatilers are reporting bad earnings, they are buying up smaller retalers and controlling what you can buy, many retailers are dropping manufacturer SKU's, or knocking off their vendor products and having them made in China. Recent casuality was the company DOA lures, they found that one of their distributors was knocking off their product in China and offering the product for about 1/2 the cost of an original DOA, this happens all the time. Now DOA is looking to manufacture in China so they can compete with their own knocked off product, crazy. This is a very serious problem that treatens all manufacturers. If you love fishing do what you can to support the manufacturer first, and not the retailer. Retailers care about the bottom line, selling lower quality products at high prices, that means off shore manufacturing. Without the manufacturer taking the risks, there would be no sport fishing industry. Do research online to find manufacturers that make the product you need, deal with them before you shop at the retailer, they do not have everything that is available, just what they think you need, I have saved www.allboatingfishingstuff as a favorite, its all manufacturers and service providers, no retailers. Its the first place I look for product, its great delaing direct with the manufacturer they are happy to hear from you and some hvae excellent products you wont find anywhere in your storte. Support the industry, support your manufacturers.

Doc has it right. It is all about greed. It is a vicious circle. In our country and most of the world there is a theme that rings true more often than not. The theme is "it's all about me" How much profit can I make on any given item and still sell it. How much money can I get from my employer so I can keep up with my neighbor. How many times can I drive my $40,000 suv past the homeless man and still sleep in my $250,000 house. How many $250 fishing rods can I buy when right down the street there is a child that needs some shoes. I know,I know it is all the fault of the government. It is their fault because after all they are supposed to make me rich and take care of those in need. Problem is is that the politicians have the same motto. "It's all about me"
The fishing industry is no different from any other. They are all in for a correction because of their greed.

So are we!
