I'd like to get feedback on area locations and types of music that my fishing brothers and sisters go to when they want hear good music. I play bass, drums, rhythm guitar. My pickin buddies and I are looking for what types of music people go to hear, so we can get a couple of sets put together. Opinions??? emoGeezer

I am a big bluegrass fan, and get into the blues sometimes too.

Yeah-bluegrass, "Americana" (kinda bluegrass with drums and a little more on the folk side.)Classic country-not this new junk.
And classic rock if it's a song that hasn't been run into the ground-like Freebird!
I get a lot of my new favorite stuff from WUTC-the college station.

Anything alan jackson or George strait does is good. Love older stuff than that, but would not help you these days. I absolutely hate the new so called country. Love old southern rock of Any kind. Let us know where you play and maybe we can come see you....... Jim

I agree about the old country stuff. I have a shelf full of nothing but George Jones, Hank Williams Sr., Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Mark Chestnut, and so on. The newer stuff, with a few exceptions, doesn't do a lot for me.

Tricky question.... with the age group on here you never know what you may get. Birthday parties to dancin' to the oldies. But I have to agree with classic country and classic rock.

Honestly and even at my age I am a Full Music Lover. If it is considered Music I can well enjoy the sounds from the instrumentals to raw vocals. The two type of so called imitation music that I actually hate with passion is the clatter and clash sounds of Christian Hard Rock and Vulgar Gansta Rap. I like all of the above at times. At this moment I would Love to watch and hear simple and sexy Shirley Manson of Garbage. Watch and appreciate the instrument play...</p>

I listen to bluegrass when I fish, but I enjoy everything from wu tang to tool to the grateful dead. Wanna hear some bad ass music check out "Steel Drivers" its good newgrass and they are from nashville. Most new rock is crap
