CONCORD, N.H. -- New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Conservation Officers rescued an injured hiker last night (September 3, 2009) on the Gale River Trail in Bethlehem, N.H. Elyse George, age 21, of Lebanon, N.H., a member of the Dartmouth Outing Club, was hiking with a companion when she injured her ankle. Fish and Game received a call for assistance at about 8:30 p.m. Rescue crews responded, including Fish and Game Conservation Officers and volunteers from Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue. Rescuers carried the young woman off the mountain, about 2 miles, to the Gale River Trail parking lot on Route 3, concluding at 2 a.m.</p>
