I have done it a couple times, nothing to it. All the bolt holes are already there all lined up. Bolt it on with the proper stainless bolts and use a lot of silicon. After it is on the boat just be sure to not try to start out with it jacked up too high.. as a rule, I would start out with the the engine raised 50% of the distance of the jackplate offset. In other words if your jackplate extends back from your transom 6", them it may be raised 3". Most are simple to jack up and align. Using the jackplate allows you to extend the engine back and higher in the water arch passing from beneath your boat when running.
Watch your water pressure, temperature and RPMs when testing your levels.. Too high, your prop will blow out. too low your boat will porpoise. Just right, it will fly
As far as hoisting your motor you can do that with your power trim, some blocks of wood and the jack that is mounted in your trailed tongue. You must have helpers the keep the engine balanced while you bolt in the jack plate. If you have a hoist, then you can do it by yourself. You may run into a problem where your steering cables exit your boat. You must use caution to not damage your cables
