out of curiosity, I pinged the address at the bottom of my profile from behind a different pc and a different firewall/router than I am using now it timed out. no packets returned.</p>

My question is: if this is not an ip, what is the numbers at the bottom of my postings and/or other peoples postings? It has the setup of an ip, so... administrator(s) please help an up and coming network guru emoScratch (LOL!!!)</p>

Probably the Ip of the router you are using, which may be set to not respond to pings.

but , if it were a router it would have a different number, I'm going to try it out

It is a public IP Address. In most cases, the only public IP Address you would have would be from the one on your Modem and the DHCP address it gives out to your router.

sounds better to me, I tried logging on thru my neighbor's(SP) router and it had the same number so... would that be the internal wireless card on my pc?
