A while back I shared a thread about one of my clients, Jerry Uhrine, catching a massive 75 lb. blue on 10 lb. test line.

It is now official. Jerry's catch has been certified as the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame's 10 lb. Line Class World Record in the Catch & Release category.

Just an FYI, there are two world record keeping organizations. The National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and the IGFA. I have learned that even if a fish is caught and released, the IGFA requires that fish be weighed on certified scales, OFF of the water. The National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame "Catch & Release" category goes solely by inch measurements not by weight. However they require clear documentation along with line samples, etc.

But for all you Cat Masters, there are some other National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame records just waiting to be broken (see below... just don't break Jerry's please emoBigsmile )

Tell us more about the National Freshwater Fishing HOF. Membership, access to record books, and a good link!! I promise not to break too many of them (although I would have tied the all-tackle record at 57" emoToast ). Maybe we'll have more records fall for various CFFers!!! emoThumbsup

Congrats again, and be sure to get that guided record onto your site Richard!!!!! emoEek emoEek

Awesome news Richard! Now you need to call up the company that makes that line and roll in some money! LOL

Don't worry... news of record is on my Scenic City site, front & center. Here is Link to HOF: http://www.freshwater-fishing.org/index.php Here is direct Link to their "Application/Rules": http://www.freshwater-fishing.org/pdf/catch-n-release-application.pdf

They make you become a Member to see/receive existing records. I are one... got a specific question about a class record... let me know.

They are far less stringent than IGFA... and an IGFA record is generally the more "respected" of the two.

However, read the Application for HOF and you'll see they are serious about catching & releasing fish unharmed. As you well know, to adhere to IGFA rules to qualify a big cat is going to require you to put the fish through some serious stress, or kill it. I like HOF for that reason.

Congrats on an AWESOME catch by an AWESOME guide!!!You are a highly respected man here on the CFF and worldwide!!!Thanks for all you do Richard! I prreeciate it alot!! emoWorthy emoWorthy
