So for those of you who saw my pics of what I did to my Mariner 225 Super Mag back in July know I tore it up pretty good. I took it to James Perry for the rebuild. Ended up with 6 new pistons, a sleeve, all rings and bearing, fuel injectors sent out tested and calibrated, new crank shaft along with one new rod. James did some exhaust chest work on it and shaved the heads.. Before the engine went out the best I saw was 69.9. Well I am now chomping at the bit to get the 10 hour break in done. Every time I take it out the hole shot gets better and better and at this point I dont think it could get any better and I only have 5 hours of the 10 done. The engine runs so much smoother and I have a feeling I will be well into the 70s when I finally get to open it up. At 3000 rpms I am running about 31, 4000 I am up to 43 - 44 and at 5000 up to 59. The engine is rated for 6600 so I have a good feeling that I will easily pass my old top speed of 69 with ease. I will let you all know how it goes but I have to say if you want your engine done right James is your man.. And here are a couple pics of what I did to the engine.
Just a note if you look you can see a hole in that damaged piston and it was stuck in the sleeve and had to be hammered out as the connecting rod was broke off
