We took a trip up to the hiwassee today for the first time in over a year and it turned out to be a great day. They're starting to fill up hiwassee lake so the river is not running much water right now. This is a good time to get up there if you like that sort of thing. It was extremely crowded with it being good Friday but we found a few fish.
We caught 25 or 30 trout with most of them being pretty good ones. There were probly 30 short strikes and fish that just pulled off as well. Half of the trout we caught were brown trout, which was a little surprising. I caught one really nice rainbow around 18.5 inches and a brown that was 15 inches. I forgot to get a picture of the brown trout. The water was cold to say the least and I only fell in once. Most of the fish bit black rooster tails in moving water. Only a few came on flies. We let all the fish go to be caught again.
