Got out on a Saturday for a change as a usually fish Sundays to avoid some traffic. Was pleasantly suprised at how few boats there were out, fishing and pleasure.
Wanted to start flipping some trees, pulled up to the first spot, pitch, and set the hook. Worked trees in several different spots and pulled one out of almost every one we stopped at until the sun got up.
Moved to a rocky bank that was still in the shade and picked up several on a swimbait and top water. There were a few trees to flip along the way that weren't as productive as the other side of the lake but one did give up a 3.5.
From there went to an area with scattered stumps and grass coming up. Started banging a chatterbait off of the stumps and picked up 3 or 4
Moved out to hit some ledges and struggled a bit due to lack of current. They were chasing bait around the 12' mark over 20-25'. Picked up several with swimbaits, hair jigs, and spoons but the bites were erratic since they were moving so much.
I went to one of my favorite offshore spots about the time they opened the damn to 40k+cfs and it was on. Boated 15 or so within a half hour that were all right around 3 pounds on jigs, cranks, craws, and a 10"worm crig. They were absolutely knocking the fire out of it when they hit it.
Then, the lightening came. Got it on the trailer and strapped down right as it started raining. Hated to end a fun day especially when we were on hungry fish but mother nature had different plans
