Went out Saturday to play in the floating forest and find some fish. Started flipping shallow early thinking and hoping the high water may have had them pulled up but didn't find anything. Was a little disappointed in that. Hit a little deeper rocky bank and pulled a few 14 inchers on a squarebill, swimbait, and wacky rig.
Decided to hit a few offshore spots on red buoy side of the lake where the current wasn't (quite) as strong and that's where we stayed the rest of the day. Caught them on everything. Cranks, swimbaits, shaky head, spoon, jigs, t-rig, etc etc. Most were shorts or just barely keepers but when you're getting flurries of 5 or 6 in a row every 5-10 min its just plain old fun. Bounced around to a few similar spots and repeated at each. Didn't want to run around too much to check some of my bigger fish ledges due to all the trash. When the pleasure boats got fired up it made it that much harder to see the floaters.
Did make it to one spot that has produced some good ones for me and got one over 5 and another about 3.
All in all it was a fun day and I sure am glad I have an ultrex
