Started out by running towards the dam and throwing a shallow running crank on the grass edges and ripping it free. Started catching a few smaller ones, when a large something about took my rod out of my hands. We played tug-o-war for about 30 seconds and then POOF it was gone. This blows my mind. How can a fish spit out 2 treble hooks from their mouth after you have yanked them in there. But if one touches your clothes or the carpet or any thing else in a five mile radius, you can bet on 10 minutes trying to get it out. Any way, shortly after that, we got a small school fired up and probably caught about 20 almost cast for cast. We got our two biggest keepers from this area. When it died, we ran back up and hit a few other spots, catching some dinks here and there. Made a run into Bennett lake and fished down the right from the ramp. We caught a few more small ones, and then Chop put our third keeper in the boat on a texas rigged magnum lizard. Hit a few spots after that trying to upgrade, but no luck. Chop had what looked to be a solid 4+ come unbuttoned from the crank right at the boat early in the morning which would have helped out. All in all, it was a fun day with a lot of fish caught and good fellowship with everyone. Congrats to Jerry and his partner for eeking out the win, and thanks to everyone for the running of it.
