Launched from Wolfteever just before sunrise. Got to my first spot throwing a big worm and football jig, no takers... I knew there was some grass on top of the point I was fishing so I grabbed a chatterbait and trolled up a few feet BOOM 3 pounder. some fish started schooling within range but I couldn't get them to hit anything. went to my next spot and caught 2 little guys on a chatterbait, once again saw some schoolers but they wouldn't eat anything I was throwing. Had about 1 hour left to kill before I had to leave, so I decided to practice skipping a jig just because it looks fun. The third doc I came too I surprised my self and how far I had skipped up into the shade, and then.... DOINK.... rod loaded up, I pulled and the fight began, I could tell I had a good one on. got her out of the doc and then I see the head come up... "oh crap this might be my PB".... looking for the net, I don't have time, I HAVE TO LAND THIS FISH... she tries to dig under the boat and I was able to gently coax her back around.... head comes up again, she's pegged dead center of the upper lip so I take my shot... reach down and bear hug my NEW PB of 6 pounds even into the boat. I was SO happy, i've been fishing from a boat a little over a year now so I am still, well, clueless... I have never caught anything over 4-12, until now!

a lot of the schooling going on now is small fish/ white bass herding up the young of the year shad fry. It would take a fly rod to match that hatch. Congrats on the PB!
