Headed out around 8 today with my new chocolate lab Buster.. Talked to Pete and pete jr as they were putting in then fished the chatt state rip rap for a while catching a few spots but no smallies.. so i decided to run down to the bend.. fished in between the bend and the island and found Spots galore.. lost count around 30 probably ended the day with around 50.. Have one real nice one take me for a stroll around the boat 3 times then when he shook his head at the surface he spit the tube GRRR was in the 3-4 lb range... Most spots I caught were around 1 1/2 lbs and caught on green pumpkin tubes and football jigs swum on the bottom like a crankbait.. Caught a few on the spinnerbait also..Every fish i caught today was a spot expect one drum about 10 lbs who gave me some excitement for a few mins.. Them riverpark drums will fight good for a few mins before playing dead emoBang Caught about half the fish on one spot about 10 yards long sat there for over 2 hours was a blast.. them little spots pull hard on small line and spinning tackle.. Good day to be on the water. Headed in around 5 and Buster went swimming at the ramp for a bit and then chatted with Ryan Wood and meet another forum member who doesnt post Parksville fisher.. good to meet ya bud hope to see ya post some in the future!!</p>

If I could catch 10-20 or 30 of them Green fish every trip I would stop crappie fishing.. emoThumbsup

Nice report...there josh

Nice fish Josh and a great looking dog! How in the world do you get your lab to stay on the boat with you? All mine wants to do is swim! I can't keep him on the boat for anything. I even tried to tie him up on the back of the boat once but he ripped up my carpet while I wasn't looking... emoConfused

Notice the carpet... emoBang

well that was his 1st trip LOL hopefully he stays this good going take a bunch when he is young and hopefully get him trained well

Great report, JDK. If the crappie weren't going so good, I would give those spots a try. I do love catching them too. So many fish. So little time. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

WTG, Josh! You sure came up with a better strategy than Pete and Re-Pete! We fished between Riverpark and downtown and only caught 5 spots (2 decent ones), one small LM, one meanmouth, one 4# blue cat and one bluegill -- NO SMALLIES! Really enjoyed meeting Buster. Reminded me of my chocolate lab, Julie, who had to be put down in Oct. at age 14 yrs., 9 mos. Here is a pic of her keeping me company while shark-fishing on the beach in Aug. -- her last big fling!

Yea after getting skunked Saturday i wanted to catch some fish so i headed down to the bend to a few of my spot holes and they didnt disappoint.. Riverpark has been getting hammered so was in the mood for something different.. I saw on bass boat pass me all day down there... Gotta love the spots!!
The smallie bite should get good again when the water stabilizes for a few days i would think.. Pete that is a great looking lab i hope mine is with us for 14 years!!

WTG Josh. Glad you located some fish. Smart move going down river. I had plans for us to try some offshore areas but we are too stubborn. For the most part we stuck with the usual places and they did not produce.

Good luck with your new dog. He is a stump. Looks like he will be a good one.

Good to meet you Josh and Ryan! Have to admit that those SM pics you posted pulled me out of Parksville. Enjoyed meeting the new dog as well. I had a slow day like some of the other posters. Used spinners, jig & pig, and lipless cranks and got nothing. Finally fooled around with a green/white twisty tail grub on an ultralight and got some action just before sundown. 3 small spots and one 16 inch SM. Got a lot of learning to do down on the river. Thanks for all the great posts and hope to run into more of ya'll in the future. I'll try to get better about posting but I don't think Parksville matches up with the river or Chic too often. I may have to change my forum name and get down that way more often.

Good report and pictues. Josh that is a fine looking fishing buddy you got there. If he gets lonesome bring him over to our house and he can tear up the backyard with my 3 Labs and a Golden. Wish you many happy years with your new buddy.

Regards, Labman
