Does anyone know a good jeep mechanic you would recommend. I have a 2004 Cherokee with the straight 6 cylinder. I have been told my pushrod is bent and it may have damaged the engine. It was recommended to replace the engine with a Jasper engine for a total cost of around $5000.00. Thanks for any help.

Could be less to fix, push rods will bend for different reasons, could be as little as loose rocker adjustments, or stuck lifter or just a worn out pushrod. Hard to tell u if u have no mechanical ability, but I would pull valve cover & look. Hope someone near u chimes in to assist u.........Luck...... emoGeezer emoUSA

the question is how did it get dent if in fact it is bent, those motors do not have adjustable rocker arms, how did that person that told you it was bent determine that ?if a lifter is cickin it may just be a bad lifter. how many miles ? what problem has lead up the current diagnosis

My son fools with the Jeep Cherokees and is apparently pretty good at fixing them. I think he's very reasonable because he does a lot of work for people on a shoe string budget. He lives in Dallas Bay (Hixson) area. I'm just curious as to how many miles it has on it. Weak valve springs and higher RPM's will cause the calves to float off the lifter and kiss the valve and that could be the cause. Teenage drivers are an excellent source of those issues. The 5K fix from Jasper may take care of everything including problems you don't have but could also be more than the Jeep needs or you want to put in it. If you can't find anybody in your area to fix it, you can PM me. My son has a good trailer and dually, if it needs to be hauled. whatever path you choose, good luck
