thank's cheez.......That just put Mr Houston on my spit list......When I was stationed in TX I wanted to deer hunt there and for the small fee of $3,000 per person per hunt I found that a bit much.....needless to say I did not hunt.

Whenever the "almighty" dollar is involved junk like this will inevitably be there.

The sad part is that those rich fools that purchase "hunts" like that actually are proud of the "hunt" and kill. LOSERS !!!!

Man! I wont type what I am thinking! All I can say is this is the ammunition that freaks like PETA need to help put an end to recreational hunting! I am speechless and will never purchase or support any products or gear that is even remotely associated with Jimmy Houston. I am gonna write him a letter and let him know what a piece of crap he is for being involved in this total cruelty!

Thats just great thats all we need is for people to see crap like that.Must people don't agree with hunting anyway. The people that do stupid stuff like that are just like mike vic the dog killer.

There is a thing referred to as "Fair Chase on open range". That is just like heading out into the lake to find and then catch fish. You can have an experienced guide in the field to lead you to open range game just like you can have a guide take you to the fish. That is all good stuff. You can even go to a fish farm and take the kids and load up on all the fish you can afford. That is okay as well. However none of that compares to these setup hunts for +K-Buck$.

I have a FORMER friend who went to a exotic animal hunting ranch here in TN. He was given a book with pics of the various animals he could shoot and a price list. He chose to go on a hunt for a full curl Sheep. He paid several Thousand Bucks, was fed well and told a little about the sheep in the wild to get him stirred up. He was driven out onto the ranch to a preset blind where he and the guide started the hunt. The guide advised him that the big sheep comes through here about this time so be ready... The guy who had dropped them off circled around to the pen where the chosen animal was being held. The sheep was released from the pen and went straight to the feed in the middle of the opening approximately Fifty yards from the blind. The Non- Hunter was instructed to "Take the Shot". He did ...and missed clean. He chambered another round and fired at the sheep and hit it in the leg. Of course, it fell down and started kicking and struggling to get up and probably start feeding again. The hunter tells the guide to shoot it for him.(Idiot!) The guide leads the non-hunter right up to the wounded animal and instructs him to shoot the sheep at point blank range. He was way too excited and confused to even be able to get his gun up. He pleads for the guide to shoot it for him. The guide shot the sheep. My ex-friend pays the big buck$ and leaves the animal at the ranch because they also do the mounting for you as part of the fee.

This guy was so very proud of his trophy as he showed me his mounted sheep. I thought that he was special until he told to me the story that I have posted here for you guys. I took him way down several notches in his pride scale. He wasn't so proud of what he had done when I got through with him.

Those private game ranches makes a good living off fools like my Ex-buddy.

That story is a true fact.

It is a sad day when our desire for a "trophy" causes us to resort to tactics like these. I sent Jimmy Houston an e-mail expressing my thoughts on his "trophy" hunt but have not heard back yet. I even sent this link to his christian fishing club but have not heard from them either.

WTG Fluke.. If you can get Ted involved in this, I promise you will see some changes. I like what that guy does for Bowhunting in his crude ways.

Ted Nugent is also a VERY strong supporter of the military..and yes changes will be made even if good ole uncle Ted has to make them..

I actually got a reply from Jimmy Houston's PR folks;
Dear Mr Lesperance,

I submit to you two letters composed by Jimmy in 2006 reguarding this
subject. The hunt you speak of took place in 2003 and they are no longer
posted on our website. We thank you for your concern and willingness to
listen to the other side of the story.

I have been viciously attacked by a large anti-hunting group that created a
web-site solely for this purpose. This site was created for no other purpose
than to try to destroy my reputation. The site tries to lead people to
believe I shot a drugged deer in a pen. I am a big target but his is not
true. The site has never been used to promote hunting of any kind. The
intention of the site is to entice hunters to attack hunters. Fortunately,
very few hunters took the bait. The only other purpose of this site is to
ban high fences.....but quite frankly, that is a secondary purpose. I know
that many hunters do not agree with high fences, but I cannot believe that
this site has successfully united the anti-hunters and the anti-high fence
people.
The "Bellar Trial" actually took place in January of 2005. I visited Bellars
place in December of 2003. I testified as a witness for the state in the
Bellar Trial. My wife and I both made a statement on the website back in
February. Since you obviously did not read those statements, I am attaching
a copy of these to this email. The statement did not appease those that did
not wish to be appeased......those that merely wanted an explanation were
satisfied. I cannot believe that anyone would think that I would knowingly
do anything wrong when I live in a glass bowl. I have worked all my life
promoting the pleasures of the outdoors involving fishing and hunting. I
have been blessed enough to have achieved some success in the business and
for this I am eternally grateful. There are those that cannot pass up the
opportunity to stab someone that they think they can hurt or destroy whether
they know the truth or not......this is what we have here.

Brian Preston, the man that narrates the video, put it together in a way to
make it appear that I am guilty of all of the things that went on at Bellar's.
Actually, they tested the meat from my deer and I was told in the court
house by the wildlife officials that they did not find any drugs in my meat.
I did not buy the deer that I killed. I was invited by Russ Bellar to come
and hunt. We arrived there around midnight; they took us to the stand before
daylight; so I have no idea how big the area was but I do know that the only
fence in sight was the one the stand was beside. The video was put together
in a way to make it look like we were in a corner and implied you could see
a fence on both sides of us - the video was reversed - and not difficult to
do....in fact one of the scenes where they point to what is supposed to be a
fence is not a fence at all.

Do you not find it interesting that they do not mention the other
individuals in the video or the others who testified in the trial? Are you
boycotting Pepsi; Carter Clothing; Brooks & Dunn; Joey Mines; and whatever
other shows that were there - one of which I think was Primos Hunting Show.
Mr. Bellar has served his prison term; has been released; has paid his 1/2
million dollars in fines and you would think this would be payment enough
for whatever wrongs were committed. Yet no one seems to be concerned about
anyone buy Jimmy Houston - do you not find that a little odd? Makes me
wonder if some of my sponsor's competitors may very well be responsible for
keeping this on the front burner even though it happened several years ago
and the price has been paid for the transgressions.

For years, we have worked hard trying to teach people about fishing and the
outdoors. We have worked with St. Judes Hospital and in working with Charles
Williams in Baton Rouge, we have raised and delivered over two million
dollars for St. Jude's Hospital. Before you think I get paid to do this, let
me assure you that I am not paid to do this. This year, my wife and I drove
470 miles from Guntersville, Alabama to Baton Rouge, La - emceed the
tournament, did the auction and visited with many people that have been
affected by the services that St. Jude's offers and then drove back to
Birmingham,, AL - a 24 hour round trip driving - that is what a bad guy I
am. By the way, we raised over $279,000 that day. I pray that you nor any of
your loved ones ever need the services that St. Jude's Hospital provides to
sick children, but if you do, please remember that in some small way, I have
been involved in making that help possible.

For the last thirty years or so, I have done over 100 personal appearances a
year helping both kids and adults become better fishermen and hunters. Many
of these personal appearances, and while it shouldn't matter to you, are
done for free! I have taken many, many children fishing that were brought to
me by Make A Wish - granting them their last wish. In case you don't know,
Make A Wish grants to terminal children a special trip - that is what a bad
person I am.

We have men and women fighting hard everyday to defend the privileges that
we have here in America and included in those privileges is the opportunity
to be able to fish and hunt. Some of these men and women are getting killed
doing this.....why on earth should we as "hunters'' and "sportsmen" argue
and try to destroy each other over a deer hunt. It would be great if people
would put half the effort that has been put into trying to defame and
destroy me into teaching someone the joys of fishing and hunting. Throughout
the country, almost 60% of kids are raised by single moms - try taking a
young person hunting or fishing instead of worrying about something that
happened in 2003.

And Also:

During the first week of February, we received a message from Kyle Crawford
about a vicious attack against Mothwing and me by the National Wildlife
Federation, PETA and "concerned" hunters.

I asked Kyle to get me the numbers of those who sent e-mails and I would
call them. I called every number he gave me on Friday, February 3.
Naturally several of the numbers were probably PETA affiliated, some were
not available or didn't answer, but I did get to talk to eight or ten actual
hunters. I didn't ask these guys to alter their opinion or their passion.
I simply wanted them to know the facts from me.

First, I want to apologize to any hunter or non-hunter who has been
personally hurt or damaged by my deer hunt at Bellars. The primary
inference on the video produced by the National Wildlife Federation is that
I shot or was hunting drugged deer and that I
was doing it in a 3-6 acre pen.

1. The Federal Drug Administration asked me for three packages of the meat
to test for drugs. I had no idea what drugs they were testing for - I
actually thought they might be looking for a steroid maybe used in raising
big deer. They tested the meat and found no drugs. Then they asked me if I
would give them the rest of the meat. I voluntarily did this and this meat
was also tested. I specifically asked the FDA agent at the trial if any
drugs were found in my meat and he told me NO-there was none. By the
way, we had already eaten some of the meat and it was perfectly ok.

2. I was not hunting in a 3-6 acre pen. We were hunting in a high-fenced
area and the stand that they had me in was within 10 yards of a fence. This
fence went over the hill and we could not see how far it went. As I
testified in the trial, we went over the hill and never did reach the other
end of the high fence. There is no way I could estimate the size of the
area. It could be 50 acres, it could be 500 acres. The entire high fence
area, as I was told was 1200 acres, but, yes, there were section fences.
The fence that is seen on the video is the same fence we were beside. There
is video shot in one direction and video shot in the other
direction of the same fence. Bear in mind that the camera was in a
different stand than the one I was in. I got in this tree stand at 7AM on
this morning and shot the deer at 11:10. That is over 4 hours. It was 20
degrees.

3. Russ Bellar did come out and check on us around 9:00AM. We saw several
deer; we even saw a deer go under the fence. The buck I shot was a 6 ½ or 7
½ year old buck and was chasing a doe. There were literally hundreds of
deer on Bellars place. At the time, nothing seemed unusual other than it
was really cold. I completely agree with all hunters about shooting drugged
deer in pens. This is wrong. I share your same passion and have spent my
entire life hunting and have worked diligently to promote,
protect and preserve this great heritage.

Have I ever broken a law or been put in an awkward position? Of course.
Should I be singled out and crucified for hunting at Bellars where hundreds
of others have hunted? I don't believe so.

From the very first day I was contacted by the Federal Wildlife Department,
I have cooperated fully and truthfully. I was always called "a witness and
or a victim" by the prosecution and I did testify for the state. This is
indeed very hurtful when you have given your entire life to the promotion
and betterment of hunting and fishing.

We see on television every day where individuals attack, blow up, kill and
maim people all over the world. We call these folks terrorists and wonder
how anyone could develop that much hate. Yet with a few seconds of produced
video, hate has welled up so much in some as to want to destroy me, our
television show, and any company we are involved with.

Again, if I have hurt anyone, I apologize and ask your forgiveness.

By the way, we did not air that hunt on television and never portrayed any
pictures to anyone as fair chase, high fence or otherwise. I just learned
this week that the picture was on some websites and asked that it be
removed. We decided not air the hunt when we learned there was some
controversy surrounding Bellars Place.

Yes, had we known then what we know not, we would not have hunted there but
that's why hindsight is 20-20. Was it wrong for me to hunt there?
Absolutely!

Obviously this letter won't satisfy everyone, particularly those
anti-hunters whose desire is to keep this on the front burners and watch
Jimmy burn. They love nothing more than making hunters attack hunters.
But, to the real hunters who read this, I apologize for any hurt or
disappointment I have caused you.

Good hunting, good fishing and May God Bless!

I too am disapointed in J. Houstons choice of freinds and place to hunt. But a "half a million dollar fine" for the owner tells the bottom line.

well by reading your return letter, its kinda hard to tell if jimmy is really sincere,or if hes just acting like he is because he got caught up, but i guess we will never know. I bet you one thing though, he learned his lesson! kinda reminded me of what michael vick did when he came out and admitted to fighting dogs, only after he knew he was caught.

You know after watching the video and reading the letter from Jimmy a few things come to mine. First is is great that Jimmy does alot of things in support of the outdoors. However, in this case this was a bad decision. I lost a lot of repsect for Jimmy in this case.emoVomit Makes me sick.
I few things to look for in the video and the reply.

1). You admit you were hunting in a high fence area, 3 acres or 1400 acres, I don't agree with it but oh well on the next one.
2). Next look at the reaction of the deer in the video. That is not the normal behavior for rutting deer. Those deer were likely being driven. Look at the reaction of the tails. I have seen tails sticking straight out many times during chasing, but only see the flag (sticking straight up) from deer that have been spooked.

As far as that Bellar guy. @$%@$^%&#$%&^#@$%@$^&^*&(%^%^@%#$$!@. Put him back in jail and leave him.

Thanks for talking about this last night Churly.

I just watched the vid and read the response. I have to "read" people for a living in my job and quite frankly, Jimmy is full of it and his response is BS! Although he has done alot in his time, I think he and several others have gotten too big in thier own mind. Sad Sad Sad! No respect from me anymore and YES, that guy should still be in Jail!

Just made me sick!
