On a couple days here recently I have wacked some bass on cranks. I was talking with one of my neighbor's who is 80 and he told me he had never really got into bass fishing with cranks and never done all that well when he did use them. I told him he could go with me and today was his day. emoAngel The weather here was perfect for cranking. Over cast sky with fronts moving thru. A little windy but that seemed to help the bite some. I was using a XT-16 on 12 lb fluorocarbon. I could cast it a mile with the wind and burn it down to a good 25 foot. emoTongue It did not take long to find some bass willing to play. In no time I had put 5 or so bass in the boat and Harry just could not understand what he was doing wrong. I told him to start with he needed to change over to one like mine. I gave him one and then showed him how to use it. Make a long cast, let the wind carry it as far as it will and then burn it down. If you hit bottom, stop it, let it rise a foot or so and burn it down again, repeat. A couple minutes later he hollered, "FISH ON!". He was laughing like some little kid. emoLaugh We had a blast, in the first hour we put 17 bass in the boat. Had to work on it after that. Managed in all 28 bass with one off a trap, four off a shakey and the rest on cranks. emoThumbsup We fished for four hours in all and Harry could not stop talking about how fun it was. emoBigsmile He told me it was good to go with a young guy who could show him some new stuff. HA! young guy...60 years old. He also told me he was going to go buy a dozen of those baits.

Nothing all that big, a couple 3s with the best only about 3 and a half.(Pic, for those of you who say it ain't a good post without a pic.) emoToast Still it was a lot of fun even with none in the four plus range. Wishing all of you some tight lines with heavy weights. emoGeezer Jmax

ok I guess I am behind the times.....who makes the xt 16?

Knowing Jmax it's probably a Rapala DT16 or a Strike King 6xd

OOPS!!!! emoDoh Derek knows me too well, had a typo. I did mean to type, DT16. emoRedface It is a Rapala crank. You can cast it well with 10 or 12 fluorocarbon and it will dive over 20 feet with that line even thou the bait only says 16 ft diver.
