Decided to go out and hit some crank bait bass again this morning. Conditions were not all that good but ended up with a decent day. Blue bird sky with water temps in the upper 80s. :( The bass had moved off the points and into the deeper ditches on the main lake that led back into big bays. Most bites came from 15 to 25 foot deep in the deepest parts of the ditches. Best cranks were the XR6 and DT16 in shad colors. Nothing all that big, a couple close to four and a couple threes. The rest were 2s and pounders. Put 19 bass in all in the boat mostly on cranks and shakey heads. Lost another five or six but for the most part got them in. Got out around 8 and fished to 12:30 when the sun and heat ran us off the water. Not bad for four and a half hours. emoBigsmile

Hard to believe it is almost the end of July. Will not be too long before we are putting down the rod some and replacing it with a bow. Deer season here starts Oct.1st. As usual we took a couple pics that never due the bass justice but here are a couple for those of you who want to see a fish. emoTongue Jmax

Jmax, what lb test line are you throwing those cranks on, nice day for what can be a tough time of the year..

I use to use 10 lb fluorocarbon but have had it break off with fish. In order to get it down you need the smaller diameter but need the strength. Currently I have gone up to 12 lbs test and it seems to work just as well with a slightly better strength. emoAngel Jmax

Hey Jim, nice report. Glad you found them, 19 bass in 4 1/2 hours is pretty good no matter where you are!

Thanks James, yea, numbers are not to shabby here but size is lacking compared to what I got use to there. I have had only on bass over 5 lbs since moving back. I have almost exclusively fished Balboa, I think I need to expand my lake choice and try some of the others around here. emoAngel Jmax
