Well, it happened, the bubble popped. Derek and I have had a really good run the past two months but today was not a winner day. It was really not a bad day for me but it was probably the worst day Derek has had this year. emoRolleyes To spare all the drama let me sum it up. He caught three I believe, had two small keepers, that got culled. He lost two big fish, one just came off and the other bulldogged on him and his line broke. emoSorry He also hung up about every 30 casts all day. emoDoh He lost a nice crank and two swims, one was an expensive swim. I lost count on how many shakeys he broke off. emoMad He was cussing pretty good today and that is the maddest I think I have ever seen him. He recovered some by the time we came in early and was talking about how good a run we have had so he seemed a little better.
For me it started off pretty good with a four plus and a three in the first thirty minutes and Derek had a two. Three in the live well and thirty minutes into the morning. Then we both went on a swing miss program where we missed and lost a couple. Off and on all day I managed to put one here and there in the boat. I added another three and two more two and a halfers. I think we fished a little of everything today. Docks, grass, edges, ditches, a bunch. From two foot to maybe 20 feet. Try as we did we just could not find any size today except the two Derek had on that doubled his rod over but got off. Our best baits were the same we have been using, a shakey, a t-rig, a crank and a swim. We ended up boating 14 bass with 11 keepers. Not a bad day by any means and considering how tough it was if we had needed the points we would have been thankful to weigh them in. Needed a kicker or two.
We weighed our five keepers in Derek's boat and we had right at 15.50 lbs. Knowing this would not get a check and since we have a win under our belts this year we are not really needing the points. With this in mind we released our fish and did not weigh them in. Seemed pointless to do it. There was a lot of guys who did poor today. I was really surprised to just how bad the bite was. However as usually with the quality of anglers in the CBA there is always going to be some who will find them.
This day belonged to Shane Frazier and his dad. They came in with just over 24 lbs and it was anchored by a hog of a bass at 9.50 lbs. emoWorthy Congrats to you both on a great sack and big fish. emoApplause Jmax
