Jerry and I have known each other for years and never fished together. He had mentioned his boat was out of order and being worked on so I gave him a holler to see if he would like to fill the back of mine. ;) He was like, "Where we meeting and what time." emoBigsmile Hit the water at the Chick and was amazed at how many folks were there. emoEek I had forgot about so many people being off since it was MLK day. It was crowded like a Saturday in April. emoCrazy

One thing good about it is everyone had a different idea on where to go and how deep to fish. No one area or place we went was all that packed. emoThumbsup Temp was great, mid 60s on us and mid 50s in the water. I did wish for a change we had a little wind. It was so calm I think it was hurting the bite. We had a decent day, no one place did we load the boat but we had nine large mouth, one crappie, one white, two yellows and a shad. emoBigsmile Had three shorts and six keepers. Best five would have been around 14 to 15 pounds. Had one a little over four, two a little over three and the other three keepers were in the two pound range. All our fish were caught on traps, that was the only thing we could get them to hit.

Great company today, thanks for tagging along Jerry. emoToast Jmax

Here are a couple of our better ones.

What kind of crankbait rod do you use for the 6xd and up. I thought about the medium heavy duckett rod at academy for 100 bucks

Good choice, I use a med/heavy ghost duckett rod. I believe it is a seven footer.

Hey Jones, Duckett site says that rod you are looking at is good for Cb's up to 16ft. It would work but Veritas has one that is the next step up for the 17-20ft range and they are on sale for 79. It is a 7'11 heavy with the moderate taper. Also has a 3 year warranty instead of a one year for the ghost. One other thing is that the handle is 2inches longer so you can get more torque to throw it farther.

Where are they on sale at?

Those rods are Garcia rods and are carried by Bass Pro, I would bet he is talking about there. emoScratch Jmax
