Thought I would get out once more before the CBA and take a look around for where the bass might be and are transitioning to. Had a pretty good day considering. Mostly looked for new water and new grass drops near fall feeding areas. Number were about the same as when Jerry and I went Tuesday. Lots of little bass are working the grass. They seem to be running in packs and when you find them there are several there. Issue on those is most are not keepers. I tried not to beat any one place up today since the tournament is only two days away. Saw some other boats pre-fishing today as well. Looks like several folks are searching for a pattern.

I never really found one pattern. Seemed like they are still all over the lake. Had some as shallow as three to four foot and others around 20 foot. Baits were all over the place as well. Cutthroat Buzz, spook, shakey, cranks, jigs and swims. emoScratch All I can hope for is that me and Derek together can break 20 pounds. I did a little better then Tuesday today. Best five were a 5/6, 4/2, 3/12, 3/2 and a 2/13, for a total of 19/3. I guess I needed Chase there to get a big kicker in for me. emoSmile I did loose one that took the spook, hit like a bowling ball fell in the water, locked my reel down and just held on. She hauled full speed right into some thick grass and got stuck. emoAngry Started to troll over to her and she pulled off. emoHoppingmad One of the many issue when fishing grass.

Hope to see a good turn out for this one. See you there. emoAngler Jmax

Thanks for the report. I'm gonna go try my luck at it in the morning. Not prefishing for any tourneys, just going out for fun. Would like to have a sack like that tomorrow for sure!!

Nice bag! I went out there this morning and yesterday morning. I fished similar areas shallow to deep both with and without grass. I even busted out the 7'6" Xtra Heavy and managed to throw the kitchen sink as a last resort. Had I been able to stay longer, I would've balled up my shoe lace and put a hook on it if I thought it would've produced!!! All 3 of my units showed fish on every spot I fished. Couldn't even manage to get a bite on either trip! Really frustrating to have a tackle shop in my boat... the rods... the reels... a boat that can run from one end of the lake to the other or any spot in between...but not havevthe in-depth knowledge, experience, and cofidence to fish more than 25feet from the bank. Knowing 100%, these are the conditions... this is the pattern... bass should be here... here... here... put it all together... pull up on or go over a spot... see fish on the graph... know that those are bass before even making one cast and determining if that spot is worth fishing!

I can relate!!!! emoBang I did a lot of looking yesterday. I went over three places I am about 100% sure they were bass on my graphs that lit them up like a Christmas tree. Throw everything at them and never even got a smell. emoScratch Shad schools near by, everything looked perfect and no matter what I did I could not fire them up. Another school I saw I did the same thing and I think I boated seven and lost three others. You just never know. That was the only stop I made where I fired up a school. Most of those I caught yesterday were scattered along or near grass flats and there did not appear to be a concentration of bass there. I guess if we ever could figure that one out we could go pro. emoCrazy Jmax

I will also say don't ever give that up either. You never know when one of those schools may fire off and you find yourself catching your biggest five fish sack of a life time. Take a look at just this year in the CBA tournament held in May. Hayden Lamb told us all up on stage he spent half his day looking for bass and the other half trying to fire off the schools he found. He finally was successful at 1:00 that afternoon and won the tournament. His words were...

“We had about 15 pounds at 1:00 p.m. and continued looking for fish. We saw a lot of suspended fish in one spot and took a while to figure out how to catch them but when we did it was every cast and they were big. This is our first C.B.A. win and it will make some special memories forever”.

They ended up winning the tournament with 32.84 lbs.!!!!! emoEek
