Sick as a dog and feeling really poor I decided to be stupid and fish the CBA yesterday. Slinging snot and coughing my head off all day was not cool. I kind of felt I had won something just making it through the whole tournament without falling over board or chunking my biscuits. emoVomit Doctors gave me some drugs and told me to take it easy. I am not sure I know how to take it easy in a tournament. emoScratch Now this morning I am congested and coughing my head off all over again. emoCrazy
Jeff and I had no real plan or any idea what to do so we just went fishing. Started in an area I normally catch fish this time of year and right off caught four. One on a shakey and three on the rig. None measured. emoBooHoo Moved around a bunch and never found anything worth even talking about. Caught a couple more shorts and was starting to think we might leave early but Derek sent me a message all excited that he had two big fish and was working on a good limit. emoWorthy It is against the rules to get fishing info from a fellow competitor so I could not ask him what he was doing or where he was. emoGeezer Not too much later he sent me a message saying he had just boated a 10!!!!!! Holly Cow!!!! I was happy for him but for us it just made us feel more humbled.
Found a long shallow pocket with the wind blowing back into it and the water temp was 58. Finally, this was more what I was looking for. Started throwing traps and right off hooked up with a 4 and a halfer. Then proceeded to get pissed at myself while loosing three more. emoHoppingmad Just not my day. Hooked up with one more that was 2 and a half there but that was it. No more wanted to play. We had gone way up river further then I normally go trying to find fish so we headed back hitting several spots as we went. A couple more shorts and that was it. emoRedface Went to the weigh in and after all the hard work we put into those two fish weighed them. It was only 7.10 lbs but we got some points for them.
I have to admit, I laughed pretty good what Churly did to Derek. One of Derek's best five bass limit that he has caught (Chase was his net man.) and all Churly kept talking about up on stage is how he was "Jmax's Apprentice" and how I had trained him well. emoLaugh Now that's funny! Even when Derek does great he can't get no love. emoBigsmile These younger guys are really starting to put it on us old dogs. emoWorthy Derek got second with 28.9something and big bass of the tournament at 9.98 lbs. emoWorthy Anthony Correll and Logan Kokoska decided to show up for this one too, they won it was a great five bass limit coming in a hair over 30 lbs. emoThumbsup I felt so bad I did not stick around for the results so not sure what was next, when we left Haden Lamb and Trevor Porter were in third with 25.58 I think and Shane Frazier and Dallas George was in forth with 22 something. Heard it took seventeen something to get paid so it did drop fairly fast. I am sure that it will be posted soon on Channel 3 outdoors.
Tight lines everyone! emoAngler Jmax
