I was so worn out last night I just could not post this so I am a little late. I almost screwed up and luckily Momma Glenda realized what was happening. I got real light headed at the weigh in and started shaking very badly. I could not focus and felt dizzy. Glenda(Mrs. Treeman) asked what was wrong and me like some idiot had no idea. She asked "When was the last time you drank something?" I could honestly not remember. She told Churley to go get me something to drink. After that I was fine. Talk about stupid.....that was a very stupid move, I had not drank anything since about noon and was about to have heat stroke. emoBang
If you have been reading my posts from last Sunday and Thursday you already know what we did. I have held no secrets about it. Derek and I went last Sunday and had over 16 lbs, Thursday I went again and had over 17 and a half pounds. I knew this pattern would work. The bass are spawning. Find the spawning flats and you will find the bass right now. This is one of my most favorite times to fish and very entertaining. We caught fish every place we went. I bet we boated around 40 bass at least. Most of our bass were small males. The buck bass are shallow around the rocks and wood they love to spawn on. Many smaller females are there already. Some of their tails were so bloody they were dripping blood on my boat when we caught them The difference yesterday was we were able to hook into a couple good ones and put them into the boat. Our best five on my scales were 7/5, 5/3, 3/12, 3/3 and 3/1, our total weight on the CBA scales was 22.89 lbs. We were culling bass just under three pounds at the end of the day. emoThumbsup We both lost track of the numbers. emoScratch I put the 7, the 3/12 and the 3/1 in the well and Derek caught our 5er and the 3/3...we both can claim success on this trip. emoToast
The pattern is no different from the last two trips. It is the same song but third verse. Fished plastic all day in shallow water anywhere from 2 to 10 foot to catch all our fish. The bigger ones did seem to be out on the deeper side of those depths. We both were fishing very...very....very slow. Both had on light fluorocarbon lines, I had on 10 and Derek I think said he had on 12. You could not go fast. You could not see them but I knew they were there. We would go into an area and fan cast until we felt something. Then just cast at it over and over. Often yesterday the bass would just pick it up to get it out of the beds. There is no telling how many fish we felt...got ready to set the hook and they would spit the bait out. Moving it, that is all they were doing. We both broke bass off on the hook set. emoMad Derek had another that he had for just a second and it wanted no part of him. She turned and hauled straight away. She broke his line like it was nothing. emoEek The way we were fishing I bet it was a bass. My big seven gave me fits. I lightened up my drag when I realized how big she was and she went on a couple deep runs and peeled off line. She was not wanting in that boat. After she had jumped three times, peeled drag about 30 feet worth, Derek got the net on her and I was shaking like I had buck fever. emoBigsmile
They say that 2nd place is the first place looser. I will take second place any day of the year with that CBA bunch. All are very good anglers. We took home $900.00 for second and we also won the Tow Boat money due to first not being a member. That was another $100.00. emoApplause We left with a cool grand more then we came with. emoDance
Thanks to all who helped put this tournament on and assisted. Also thanks to all who fished. I believe we ended up with 97 boats. emoThanks
