After my good showing in the last CBA catching five right at 21 lbs I thought my bad showing of catching little bass might be over. I was wrong. I am not even sure we had a big bass on. emoScratch James and I had a pretty good tournament catching bass, just not big enough ones. We boated around 25 bass in the 6 hour tournament so that really isn't all that bad. We did count the keepers and there were 10 over fifteen inches. Only one was 3/0 and the rest were upper one pounders and two's. emoRedface Ended up having to weigh in the one 3/0 along with a 2/11 and a 2/12. On the CBA scales they went 8.42 lbs. Put us in sixth place. I sure don't want to complain about last night. We had fun, some good laughs and had some great fellowship with the others. emoThumbsup

There were three places paid. We needed that kicker to get paid. Nunley (Beetlespin) and partner took third with 9.44. So a solid 3 and a half pounder for us to cull our smallest would have done it. emoRolleyes Derek won it with his net man Chase. emoPoke Derek was give'n Chase heck last night, Chase never boated a bass and lost every one he hooked. They did not really have all that good a night with only bringing seven bass into the boat with just five keepers. However they had the ones that mattered. They had about 12 and 3/4th pounds with their best three to show us all it could be done last night. emoWorthy Congrats

James and I tried several baits but could only get them on plastics. I was using a shakey and James was using a Taxes rig. We both had on some kind of green trick worm. Lots of bites, several hook up that came off, only one we think may have been a good one that bull dogged James under the boat and then just came off. Not sure, never saw it. May have been enough to at least get Nunley but it don't count unless it makes it into the boat. emoBooHoo Most of our bass came from some kind of drop. Either a grass edge drop or a rock drop out in deeper water. Lots of fun like I said already. emoBigsmile

Congrats to those in the money and those so close. See ya out there. emoAngler Jmax

Nice report. That sums it up for us too. Frank and I found some fish and had action; but most of ours were little guys. We did manage to put a 3-6 LM in the well and a 2-8 spot. Released them at the dock. It would have been nice to get that one big bite, but that is fishing I guess. We caught ours on a steep drop offshore into 30 FOW. We stayed there most of tournament and might should have pulled off and tried some other stuff when bite slowed. Couple of ours came on SB including the nice spot and the rest on shakys.

Great seeing everyone out there last night.
Congrats to those that got some cash.
See y'all next time.

You know, maybe me and James are just getting old and senile, but we sure had some goofy stuff happen on this one.
-Dark was setting in and the bugs came out. I see James out of the corner of my eye take out what I thought was bug stuff and start putting it all over himself. Seconds later I smell lady's perfume??? I was like, "What the hell did you just put on?" James said that he was out of bug spray and his wife had given him some "Skin So Soft" to use. I ragged him a good while about him smell'n sooo good and being sooo soft that some of the boys may get turned on. He told me if he heard banjo music start to play he was running.
-First storm came through on us we were not too far from a open boat house, so right when it started to rain I headed that way. Just when we were about to borrow the boat house it stopped. Of course we got wet before we got there. emoRolleyes
-Next storm you could feel it coming, temp dropped and the wind started to blow like crazy. I told James that it smelled like rain and it was coming. No sooner did I get that out of my mouth we heard it come across the water. emoEek Hit the motor on high and headed for some stalls. Issue was all the stalls had a boat. emoBang James dove for his rain suit just as it poured. I saw a stall with a small boat in it and put the front half into the stall out of the rain. It was a metal dock and the rain was really load on it. I looked behind me to see James with his head down getting soaked trying to get his rain suit on. emoScratch I kept screaming, "Hey! Come under here!", he could not hear me. Finally after getting his jacket on and unsuccessfully getting his pants on he finally looked up to see me standing there nice and dry under the stall. emoLaugh He jumped forward and got out of the rain. He was soaked. I asked him what he thought he was doing and he said he had seen no empty stall and did not realize I was out of the rain. emoRolleyes
-Next goof was about 12 midnight we had the three we weighed in already in the live well. I was checking on them and one was upside down. I always put the boat in reverse just after moving so that is what I did to put some fresh water in the boat. I thought I had taken the boat back out of reverse and was putting clips on the one upside down. Issue was we were still in reverse. Did not know it in the dark. emoRedface So there we are both with our heads in the well working on fish while our boat is going round and round in reverse on the water. According to Chase him and Derek saw us. Chase said, "I wonder what is up with that boat out there going round and round in reverse?", supposedly Derek's reply was, "Who knows, it's probably Jmax." emoAngry Yea, love him too.
-Next, here we are with about an hour to go. Decided to try one more place. Going across the river we were both looking for the buoys and I was also watching my depth finder. The depth finder dropped off into the 30s and I thought I was in the clear. Speed up a little just as a nice big red buoy appeared dead center in front of the boat. emoEek Spun the wheel just in time to keep from centering it but it reflected off the boat on James's side, he about jumped over into my lap. emoDoh We were lucky to only have a little damage to the rub rail.
-We should have know better then to tell Derek all this. As we left the weigh in my step son Derek ragged me. "Hey OLd Man, your running lights are not on, your trolling motor is still down and there are some buoys out in front of the landing so make sure you see them!" Smart ass young punk. emoBigsmile Jmax

emoScratch You did not have time to catch doing all this, emoBooHoo ............ emoGeezer emoUSA

Yea, I know, I heard some of the other guys say that. emoScratch Must have been on what part of the lake you were on. We got rained on the first time lightly but the second time was a down pour. Not to mention when James ended up on my lap when we almost got leveled by the red buoy, him smell'n good and being so soft, had me for a second thinking he was going to give me a lap dance. emoLaugh Jmax

Thanks flyman, I actually enjoy writing them, maybe I missed my calling. emoBigsmile

Fishnvol, you are so right! I think I gave all my luck to Derek. emoDoh He has got a check in about the last 7 or 8 Thurs night dog fights and then he wins this one. emoScratch I keep thinking, "What is up with that?" We fish the same places but my luck this year is just not there like years past. I don't want to complain, I have had more then my shares of "15 minutes of fame", but dang this is getting old. emoBigsmile Jmax
