Down to one mess of crappie in the freezer and my son was talking about coming down to see if he could have a couple messes. Decided it was time to go out and put a few more in the freezer. First place I went on about my third cast had a hard hit and it pulled drag. Fought it in and up came a nice small mouth. emoScratch Move to another spot and first cast had one nail it, fought it and it pulls drag. Worked it in and up came a nice large mouth about three pounds. emoDoh Start to wonder if I was missing the boat some on these bass, maybe I should be using a crappie rod, four lb test and a crappie jig on these tournaments. Next fish was a nice bream. emoRolleyes Finally hook up with a keeper crappie and start putting some in the live well. Mainly fishing main lake docks from 8 to 12 this morning. I put about 35 crappie in the boat before stopping with 15 nice keepers in the well. Had one tarp that was 14 and a half inches. Most of them were caught on tubes in blue and chartreuse. Most were caught shooting the docks in the most shaded areas under the docks. Also managed one more bass and several bream. Water temp was around 57 to 59 degrees.

Right at noon after putting my limit in the well on crappie I did fish for bass a couple hours. Nothing much, had a couple decent bass on shakeys and lost one other. They were working along rock drops leading back into spawning flats. Had a lot of fun and also had fresh crappie for supper. emoHungry Jmax

(I was surprised to see my old boat today out on the water. I saw it and went over to be sure. My old gold Ranger 518SX with the Evinrude Fitch 200 was at HBSP sitting at the dock. I thought the person who got that boat was not from around here but that was sure it. emoRolleyes Hope they have better luck with it then I did.)

I was saying that to Earl on the last CFF tx because I had a 4 lbr on my crappie rig a couple days earlier.
Danny and I were fishing for bass (remember Danny?) at Riverpark some time ago and weren't doing to well on blades or crankbaits and he picked up his crappie rod and started whaling on spots-so I did the same and we had 120 plus bass before a thunderstorm ran us off. Several were tournament quality.
