Blow wind blow! Geez! I may not have gone if I had known how bad the wind was on the lake. It about blew me away. Went out this afternoon after working some. Had a good trip even with the winds. Needed to restock the freezer so I started on the crappie first. Hit four of my crappie spots and put about 40 or so crappie in the boat. Kept a limit of 10.5 to 11.5 inch crappie for the freezer. No big ones today on the crappie. Just a lot of squeaker keepers. Depth today on the crappie was about 17 to 25 feet, using a crappie assassin on four lb yellow line.
After filling my live well with my limit of crappie I decided to see if I could still get hit on a crank like me and Derek found them in the CBA. They were still doing it. Hit a couple places using deep cranks and tied into a couple decent ones. It was really hard to cast with the wind blowing like it was. Seemed every freaking third cast I would back lash. emoBang I was burning the crank to get it deep on a 18 foot ledge where it dropped off into 25 foot and it just stopped. Like I had hung the bottom. emoEek Held on and the bottom started moving. Thought at first it was a cat but then it started hauling. Stayed down and you could tell it had some weight. Got it up under the boat and saw a big bass! emoDance Got the net ready and down it went again pulling drag. Got it up again and this time I was ready. Got the net under her, she was a beauty. Got out my scales and weighed her twice, both times it settled on 10 lbs and 4 ozes. Derek and I sure could of used her in the CBA this past weekend. That one there would have taken big bass and put us up to 3rd. But like they say, "Day late and a dollar short". I thought about taking her to find someone take a picture of her with me holding her but I wanted to get her back into the water quickly. Held my arm out as far as I could and just snapped one of her like that, those never do the bass justice but it will have to do. Managed a couple more but after catching her the others just did not matter. emoBigsmile
Here are a couple pictures of my crappie and the big gal. You can sure get spoiled fishing this lake. emoTongue Jmax
