Jmax, Chick, Good Friday Dog Fight, Bass, 1st place, 4/18/14, The Legend Derek(Pic added)
We had a great time today. We actually caught several nice bass and I really enjoyed getting my butt whooped by Derek. emoThumbsup Derek culled my bass today and managed to catch the three we weighed in. I was his net man. emoBigsmile I started us off with a nice two and a halfer that was just over sixteen inches off a trap. Derek managed our next one off a beaver that went 4 and a half. Later he added a three off a swim bait. The first two above came from water less then four feet deep. The other one came from about six feet. Try as we did we went on a run of smaller bass that would not help. Had a couple that might have squeaked into keeping but they would not have helped. About noon we had moved out fishing a little deeper and we were hitting a point with rock on it. I was using a shakey and Derek had on a beaver. Derek sets the hook on one but it was coming at the boat and hard to tell how big. About that time it broke water and completely cleared the water. emoEek It was his eight pounder. Derek backed off the drag and played it perfect. It jumped and cleared water one more time before coming into the net. Really a pretty fish. That culled our smallest one that I had put in there so Derek had all three. Not bad at all, a 3/0, 4/8 and an 8 even for a nice 15 lbs & 8 ozes. emoWorthy I managed one more decent fish but it came up a couple ozes short at 2/14. Not a bad day at all with our best five breaking the 20 lbs mark. Caught bass today on a crank, trap, beaver, shakey and a swim bait.
Very happy to be Derek's net man today, came in 1st place and big bass. On the tournament scales theirs weighed in hundredth and his big one went 7.95 lbs., with our total weight at 15.41 lbs. emoDance Way to go Derek!!!
