Can't tell you how to catch a huge sack of fish but I can tell you how to catch a bunch of little ones. emoBigsmile I have not been on any kind of consistent bite. Derek again had to take his son to another High School tournament event so I was again going solo. I had found some fish shallow that I was catching on traps and jerks but this last water drop seemed to have pulled them off the shallow flats back into deeper water. After considering everything I thought I could come up with a limit junk fishing deeper spots and that is what I did.

I was boat number 65 going out and stayed in the park to start with. It was a total bust with only one short. emoAngry Bad first choice. Went to my second choice and found three boats already there. emoDoh Hit a small secondary point while I was in the area but only managed a couple shorts there too. Moved to my third choice and again found three boats already sitting on it looking mad each other. emoBooHoo I was trying to find primary and secondary points leading back into flats where bass may have pulled out to when the water dropped. Moved again to another spot and finally! No one there! Fished it heavily with everything I could throw at them. The only bait I was getting them to take was a shakey and my issue was they were mostly small. I did manage one nice 16 incher and a beauty of a spot that had really pretty colors. They had mentioned at blast off there would be a big bass prize for biggest spot so into the live well it went. I hoped that I could cull it since it was just a two pounder.

Moved again and found a long point coming out into the lake with wind blowing across it. Took out the rig and started wearing my shoulder out. Just about the time I thought it was a waste one about took my arm off. Good pull and rod doubled. Knew it was a decent one. Up came a nice one at 4 and a half. Shortly there after another slams it but with about one turn of the reel it came off. emoCrazy Look up and have another boat sit right down and cut me off. emoBang Didn't want to get into it so I moved again. The next spot again was a bust.

Time running out I thought about that four and where it had been. Headed again for the main river and looked for that kind of place. Found one and started throwing a deep diving crank on the wind blown side. One kills it and locks me down. Good fight, half way to the boat, up it came, another one that looks to be another four plus fish. However it had other ideas. Second jump it throws my crank back at me. emoHoppingmad I do end up boating two more solid two pounders there and limit out. emoDance I move one more time to another place like that but it yielded only another short.

Time runs out and I have to head in. The weigh in was another one of those "Haves and have nots". Seemed you either found them and loaded the boat or you struggled and did not do all that well. Josh and Bruce Wofford Won it with 29.92 lbs!!!! emoWorthy They are hot right now. They took second last week in the Heartland tournament as well. emoWorthy My weight was 13.75 lbs and will at least get me some points. To my surprise my monster spot of 2.07 pounds took the big spot place and I did win a really nice Ghost Ducket rod. emoThumbsup So all was not a complete lose.

Had a great time. 16 bass with five keepers. Not to sound like Eric M. but anymore just waking up in the morning is a good start. emoBigsmile Got friends my age passing on me and life starts to take a different view. Just thankful the Lord has blessed me to be able to be in the game. emoToast See ya on the water.

We have been having the same trouble. One day you catch 25 plus pounds and the next only 12. That low water and blue bird skies aren't helping.

Bout same for Terry and I. Windy areas, small fish with an occasionally a keeper.....14.11. 23rd finish..... emoGeezer emoUSA

You know you were 23rd? emoScratch I do not know where I ended up but felt like the weights dropped so fast I might get a few points. That does show how fast it dropped. If you were in 23rd place and they paid 20 places you weren't too far out of the money. With 108 boats that is not bad of a place for you to end Jerry. Congrats on a decent finish. emoThumbsup Jmax

You are undoubtedly, the CFF Fishing Report Master. emoWorthy

Maybe not has funny (or old emoGeezer) as EricM, but if anybody wants to know what's up with bass fishing and things to try (or not to try), you are the "Go To" guy. I hope others appreciate your reports as me... and I don't even bass fish (much)! emoBigsmile

I gotta commend you, Jmax ,for your report, the fishing part and the reflective and religious part. Richard Simms' comments were very well stated. Thanks!
