Not much happening with work today. After talking with Don I decided to head for the lake. Got there at noon and the wind was howling. Did someone say the wind blew today. emoEek You were ok as long as you did not try to cast into the wind. I was thinking about crappie fishing but decided since the wind was so bad it would just about be impossible to cast my little 1/32nd head with my ultra light. With that in mind I broke out the bass stuff. emoGoofy
It ended up being a good call. Fished from noon until five and boated 18 bass. emoThumbsup Not too shabby for a winter afternoon trip. I would take that any day in the winter. Tried several different baits, the shakey, crank and spinner baits were a bust for me today. The three I had success on were a rig, jerk and a jig. My better fish came off a jerk bait fished fairly deep. You could jerk it down to about the ten foot depth and while it would be sitting still they would crush it. emoDance My shallowest bass came from about seven foot and my deepest were about 20 foot. I never hit the really shallow stuff with a trap. I might should have. Water temp was 42 to 45 depending on what part of the lake you were on. Figured with the temp drop of the water the fish had probably moved out to a little deeper depth. I lost three other bass that came off and missed a couple more.
No monsters today, had a couple three pounders with my best going 3 lbs and 10 ozes. I did take a couple pictures for this report, some of you say it not a good report without a picture. emoBigsmile Jmax
