I have not posted a report in a while. This one here is going to make me sound like some old man...wait...at 62 some folks would say I am an old man. emoBigsmile My day starts with coffee, the news paper, fox news and watching the sun rise over the lake out my windows of the den. Then I walk my two dogs, both lap dogs, one Westy and the other a Shizue. By that time it is usually around 7:30. Then I try and decide if I feel like fishing. emoTongue If I do I go out back, throw the switch, drop the boat and go fishing. Yeah, life is hard in retirement, but someone has to do it so why not me. emoEvil
Here in Arkansas today there is suppose to be a heat index of over 100 so I knew it was going to be a short one. I went from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The bass here have for the most part stopped schooling and the water is in the upper 80s. Bass are moving deeper and stacking up on ledges, edges and drops. I have the most success in the 15 to 20 foot range where there is a drop with some kind of structure. Sound familiar? This pattern is about the same one I used at the Chick this time of year. emoThumbsup I had some success on an Alabama Rig, a couple on cranks, but mostly on the ol' dependable shakey. Put 16 bass in the boat in three hours. Not bad for my back yard. emoToast Had a couple kickers to go with them, the best coming in right at 5 lbs. Here are a couple of the better bass.(below)
By the time I came in after putting the boat back on the lift I did not have a dry piece of clothing on me. Man, is it hot!!! emoSun Wishing you all heavy sacks, stay cool and drink plenty of liquids. This is the time of year you can have a heat stroke and not even see it coming. emoGeezer Jmax
