Have not posted a trip of mine in a while. Been chasing schoolers here mostly but not much in size. Lots of fun, even some doubles. I have learned that you can buy a small pop-R, change out the hooks and put it in front of your favorite top water bait just like the old front runners they use to make. It is pretty neat to catch two at once. emoSmile Today with the heat going to be in the triple digits I was not sure if it would even be worth going. Headed out to where they had been schooling and not even a ripple. Nothing, hot and calm. Moved over to where I knew some brush piles were off a long flat and started drowning a shakey. 20 plus foot of water with a 1/8th ounce head takes a while to fish but a guy has to do what you have to do to put a fish in the boat. emoRolleyes Was not long before I got a tap and up came the first of the morning. Boated one more there and that was it there.
Decided since that worked I would just run the lake looking for deep drops in 20 to 30 feet off points where there were brush piles. It worked pretty well considering the heat, clear sky and calm conditions. Had to work it slow through the brush piles so not to get hung up. Put eleven bass in the boat doing this from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 P.M. Best one was this one that I weighed at 5 lbs and 9 ounce., she was long and a little on the skinny side, 20 and a half inches. All were released to fight another day. emoThumbsup
The heat finally is what drove me in, I checked when I came in and the heat index here was 102 degrees. emoDoh I think I am already ready for Fall and cooler temps. Hope everyone is well and keeping cool. Take care my friends. emoBigsmile Jmax
