Decided to go out and try my luck today. It has been really cold here and the bass have for the most part been slow and non-active. Today was an exception. emoThumbsup Had a good day with the best five going around the 16 lb mark. That is good for this lake. I have been catching them on shakeys in about 25 foot for the last month or so but today I could only get goober bass to bite deep. The water temp showed 44.1 so I did not think they would have moved up yet but since the deep bite was so poor I thought I might as well try it. emoScratch
Went to a 3/8th oz spinner bait and slow rolled it around routes going into spawning flats. Mostly kept the boat in about 15 feet and cast the blade up into about 8 to 9 feet, letting it go to the bottom and slow rolled it back. To my surprise it was no time at all before a nice 4 lber crushed it. That bass was ice cold. Found the pattern. Had one of my best days since moving back. Can't complain about spinner bait fishing in the winter. That is a fun way to catch them. emoDance This pattern has worked for me on the Chick this time of year. Made me wonder if they were doing it there too. emoGeezer Tight lines to you all. Here are a couple of the better ones.
