A buddy of mine here called me up this past Friday and said he was going to fish Lake Hamilton Saturday morning in front of the storms. Told me he had an open back seat and did I want to fill it? I have lived here in Arkansas off and on all my life but have never fished Lake Hamilton. I jumped on the idea to finally do so. emoTongue
He will sometimes fish the BFLs so he has fished Lake Hamilton several times. He thought there would not be many boats because he said there were no tournaments that day. Wrong! emoTskTsk We got there to find about 100 plus boats launching and an organized mess. There was a large High School tournament going out of that same ramp. We slipped in line and got out of their way. You would have thought with a big storm front coming in that afternoon the bass would be biting. Nope, it was tough. Just like the Chick sometimes this time of year they were working shallow water, seeming to want to start the spawn. We kept getting them to hit but they would not eat it. Fifty percent of the time they seemed to be just pick it up and move it. We think they may have been on beds already and just getting it out of the bed. emoScratch They would not chase at all. Our two baits we had our success on was a shakey and a T-rigged lizard. You want to guess which one was mine. emoBigsmile I put seven in the boat and he put two. All keepers but not much to brag or show. Best one was one of his and it was right over four. Had to leave out at 12:30 to avoid the incoming storms. Just so we have a picture, below is the one four that Dennis boated.
Hope to see some of you on the water this week. Tight lines! emoAngler Jmax
