What a day! Caught and boated 48 bass! Numbers were great but size was lacking. Had about 75% of those were shorts. Lots of 13 and 14 inchers. Lost another dozen or so. Had one that felt really good come off. Wished I could have saw her. emoBawl Did catch a couple decent ones but none were hogs. Best one was a skinny four pounder. (below) Usually before a tournament I don't tell what I caught them on but this trip I will share. (you will see why) Let's me think, a spook, a square bill, a medium crank, a deep crank, a shakey, a spinner bait, I think that is it. lol, I never threw a jig or I might of had a couple on it too. emoTongue There is a shad spawn going on right now and those Bass would chase today. About had my rod jerked out of my hands today. Thumbs look like a sander got hold of them. That is a good problem to have. emoBigsmile

Depths today were 2 foot to about 16 foot. Parts of the Nick are really muddy right now and there is whole trees floating down the river so be really careful this weekend. emoEek Temps were in the mid 70s where I fished. The river is backed up at the Narrows and flooded above it. The Marion County end was about a foot low. That is always weird to me.

Looking forward to it this weekend. emoDance See ya down there. Jmax

Oh yeah. I can remember having a terrible day on the Chick and driving down to Nickajack and getting revenge lol. We could catch over 50 fish down there just no real good ones. I remember the bottom of the boat full of torn up craws and other miscellaneous trailers from going there. Not to mention the nearly bleeding thumbs.

I hear ya Hook1. I got there at eight yesterday morning. Found the bass fairly quickly and started catching them. ;) I left at 2:30. I left when I did mainly because I did not want to get caught up in the traffic in Chattanooga. I hate the bumper to bumper going thru downtown at 4 to 6 in the afternoon. I left fish biting. I was still whacking them when I left. I was going to leave at 2:00 but I kept saying to myself, "O.k., I need to leave but one more." emoTongue You think about it, in 6 and a half hours I boated 48 bass. That is one bass for every 7.38 minutes that I fished. That does not take out the fifteen minutes or so I stopped to eat a little lunch. That would be about one bass for every seven minutes. That was fun! emoBigsmile Jmax

Man, thats awesome. I wish most days were like that.

I hate I am going to miss the tournament this weekend. I love fishing Nickajack.... Good luck in it.

Good job Jim, I know what you mean by it backing up it seems to start at Mullins Cove, when the river begins to widen toward the dam and they suck the bottom out before it catches up from the gorge.</p>

Good report, I hope everybody that fishes this weekend has the same results. I remember back in the day ( 80's ) you could catch that many bass on the chick.
