Tough, tough, tough! It was hot, calm, glass water and really a difficult bite. I thought it might be and man oh man, was it. 16 boats showed up to fish this one and only 6 boats weighed in. I told James this morning I wanted to start fishing for Spotted bass, try to get three and then go to large mouth. The reason was I felt if the bite was really tough we might get three keepers spots better then trying to get three keeper largemouth. emoScratch First stop produced two keeper spots that were only 13 inches, but they count. emoBigsmile Both of those were on the main river in about 20 to 25 foot. One on a drop shot and one on a shakey. We then went up into Mullins but could not get any size. I think we boated four more large, all short. Moved back out deep looking for our third spot. Missed a couple and came in with half a worm. emoMad Stayed there way longer then I had intended. Moved down river and hit several deep places again looking for spot number three. Finally James hooked up with another and got in our third spot at a pound and a half. Knew we needed to cull so we headed for large again. Fishing grass flats we caught another five or six large, all short. emoDoh Don't know where the better large were today but we never found them.

I mainly wanted to get in the top eight so we might keep the AOY honors. With the award being free entries into next year's tournaments that is worth winning. emoDance I thought we might have messed up until we got back and saw half the folks had left. Our three little spots only weighed a hair under three pounds but was good enough for forth place and they cemented us into the AOY position. emoToast This one paid three places and we almost got paid with that. emoEek James's best spot of the two he caught was right at 1.50 pound and it almost took big spot. Got beat out by one spot of Hughes and Norris who had one at 1.72 I believe. The Massengales won it with a couple ounces under nine and the son got big bass. emoWorthy I like it when the kids do well. emoApplause

See you all at the Classic! emoAngler Jmax

Great job guys! It's nice that James is holding your team up this year Jim. ;)

James has contributed this year for sure. emoThumbsup

Sorry to be so late to post. Work, work, work emoBang . It was for sure a tough day. I was very disappointed that we never had an opportunity at a keeper largemouth and also that we didn't boat more bass of any size. I did get my string stretched by a couple of catfish on a drop shot rig out on the main river. One that went 8 lbs or so I landed the other was much larger and wrapped me up on a log or rock on the bottom and I had to break it off. I would have never thought our pitiful three spots would have placed 4th but you just don't ever know. Jim and I had a fun year and congrats to him for winning AOY. I missed out due to having to leave one event to take my Dad to the hospital. Praise the Lord he was OK and as they say fishing is fishing but family is family so I have no regrets. I appreciate Jim letting me hold his back seat down and for even slowing down a little to spare my poor worn out back emoAngel . The competition this year was close and I want to say a big thank you to our committee for their hard work and patience as you know how hard it is to try to manage a bunch of competitive people who all have their own ideas about how things should be done. I'm looking forward to our classic and sincerely hope that we all catch a bunch of fish, that everyone remains safe and that we never lose sight of the things that are really important emoThumbsup . See everyone at the classic emoTongue
