jon, Mud Creek, Upper G, Chick and Douglas, Bass, 3-6,7, & 8-09, Troy and Cherokee Ridge
Had spring fever, so me and Troy hit the road Friday morning @ 2:30 AM. We were setting at the Mud Creek ramp @ 7:00. And we weren't alone! Lots of boats.. It was a little cool and over cast with water temps around 48. We started out with the rattlebaits over the grass flats. After an hour or two Troy picked our first fish up:
After a couple of more hours with only one more fish, we started pitching plastic to what wood we could find. We wound up with 13 and Troy caught 11 of those including the big fish going 3lbs 6ozs:
After that we headed back to CherokeeRidge's in Chattanooga for the night. After much debate over the crowd's, the tourney's, and the lack of fish being caught (we did better than most we talked to Friday). We decided to fish the upper -G Saturday and leave those grass flats to the masses. I had two fish on our first stop which matched my total for Friday! We mostly fished the main river and a couple of creeks. We wound up with 32 total bass with 5 keeper largemouth and 2 limits of keeper spots. We never found any of fish4thepeck's smallies, but those river spots sure do put up a good fight! All were caught on grubs, tubes, and hawgs.. Here's a few pics:
And our big fish was bigger as well with this 3lb 11oz largemouth:
And I had the big drum for the day! This one's for Dickie! LOL:
I didn't feel like driving back down there Sunday morning so we just fished the Chick. It was terrible! We only caught carp w/12" leaches hanging off of it, drum, and yellow bass. After 3 hours we said good by to the nukes hit the road toward home.
But we couldn't go home without catching our bass for the day, so we stopped at Dandridge and hit Douglas. We only caught 5 bass and a big crappie, but that was a good way to finish the weekend.
I have to give a big thanks to Al and Linda for puttin us up! We sure did have a good time, but man am I wore out. That was my first trip to Guntersville, but it won't be the last. The next time I go it won't be on a weekend though! Toooo many boats for me....
Good Fishin and God Bless,
Jon
