Brother and I decided to fish the spro frog tourney yesterday. Fished up north most of the morning Friday. Has about eight blowups in and around the jones creek area and some smaller cuts of the river, but didn't feel good about it. Moved north to Mud crew and found some really nice sounding mats, but no blow ups. Scratching my head at this point.... Moved further up to a small branch and decided to start beating some junk on the banks with the frog. Finally got one that smashed the frog. Wanted to come back down and fish raccoon, but decided to get lunch and traill back down for check in. Checked in for tourney and found out we couldn't take out after take off and re trailer to where we wanted fish. Knew I couldn't make the run back north so now I had to retool where I was going to fish. Found a little slough back above town creek with a ton of bait and found a little pattern on boat houses right before dark. Decided that was what we would go with. We did get to our first spot next morning and got one in the boat off a boathouse. About nine more boats pulled into our same spot over the next 20 minutes and after milking the three boathouses, we made a move down to another pocket with boathouses. Missed two and brother hooked one that ended up,stripping drag gears out of his reel and ripped his frog...... Not good. Moved on further down to Browns creek but cloud cover and wind was up now making it difficult to fish the boathouses. Decided to make a last run down to a place called fishers hollow and found a great mat in the back with a run of boathouses. After about 15 casts in and around thus mat, finally got huge blowup, but she ended up pulling off. Dejected after losing two big fish in the day and no where else to really fish ,we came back in early and caught with Gene Jensen- Flukemaster at the weigh in. Really enjoyed meeting and chatting with him. Really inspired with what he is doing and his purpose. Saw some really good sacks of fish weighed in. Just above 20 won and a 9+ took big fish. Really like this tournament. just need to figure some things up the river a little better as that seems to be where most of the fish catching took place and get a bigger gas tank on my boat to make that run.

Depending on how the heavy rain and wind effected the mats, I would try and stay from Roseberry Creek area and up for frog fishing. Just what I heard at the weigh in. There is still some very thick mats in Jones Creek area and along the back side channel in and around that area. The entrance of Raccoon Creek had some really nice mats as well. It would have taken a good bit of weather to break these mats up in my opinion, but I am not sure how strong the winds were there yesterday. I marked a good bit of fish in the mouths of the creek channels as i went in that were still holding in 8-10 ft of water that had not moved into the mats. I was primarily frog fishing, but they probably could have been caught with crankbaits. There is a ton of bait balls in and around some of the grass lines we found across from Seibold Creek Friday afternoon in some of the pockets and little sloughs. I don't really think the majority of the main river fish from mid-lake area down have really moved up yet. Still seems to warm as we had water temps in the mid 70's in that area, where above BB Comer it was down around the 71-73 degree range. Let me know how it goes and hope you get on them.
