Just starting to take bass fishing seriously

I am from soddy and like a lot of people I was raised around and on lake chic. So while I always bobber fished and hit a bank every now and then I never took bass fishing seriously until the last few years. I didn't want to clutter up the tournament thread with a discussion so i posted here. What would be a good beginner tourney as a passenger/ maybe driver and how easy is it to get out with someone who can teach me a little bit,especially about channel fishing? Thanks for any input.
