Day 1
Ray and I had been out looking 1 day on chick and 2 days on nick with only one keeper on chick it was awful. We knew it would be tough and without much of a plan we blasted off. The first spot we went to I was fishing a weightless fluke hooked our first keeper (lm). Moving on down I hooked up again and it was taking drag I thought it was a good one. Got it in the net and it was a fat smallie that was a 1/4” short that was hard to throw back. In the same spot I caught 2 more smallies about 12” long. Thought the day may not be as bad as we thought. Man I was wrong started running around trying to figure out something and had not another bite till 2:30. Running around trying to find some deep fish I saw a few turned around jumped up hit spot lock and first cast on 8xd caught our second keeper next cast caught another one it jumps off at the boat a 5+ the next cast caught our 3 rd keeper and Ray hooks up with our 4th keeper and they shut off not another bite with just a few min left to get to weight in our day was over. Finished day one with almost 11 pounds with 4 fish in 2nd place.
Day 2
The plan was get 5 fish not sure how but we thought we could go catch some spots up river. Went to the first spot I caught our first keeper on the weightless fluke, caught several more all non keepers. Ray caught some small spots the didn't keep on a buzz bait. I broke one off on the fluke my fault never retied. We started punching the grass lines, Ray hooks up on a nice lm. So we decided to run down to try and fill out the limit with spots. I caught our first spot on a jig and then Ray hooks up on a Ned rig. 4 in the box. Ray picks up a small Crankbait and caught keeper #5 a lm. With a limit we went back to punching. I culled one spot and Ray culled the last spot. I think Ray culled one more time just before weigh in. All in all we had a much better tx than I thought we would. We finished 3rd. I have enjoyed fishing this year with all the CFFers. Time to start hunting hope to see everyone next year. Congrats to the winners they had a awesome bag on day two!
