I mainly fish for bass out of my kayak but some buddies want to find some catfish. Usually I catfish below the dam or in the channel by SQN but wouldn't go to either of those places in my kayak. Any suggestions of places a little more protected? Will be fishing till dark maybe slightly after if a really low traffic area. Thanks.

I would look at deep creek channels. Particularly where the main river channel intersects with a creek channel close to shore. I want video if you catch a big one!!!

I agree with foodsaver. Just make you a carolina rig with about a 6 oz weight on it and an 18 inch leader with a circle hook on it. Then just paddle out to the channel, put the rod in the holder then drop your bait all the way to the bottom. Once it hits the bottom reel it up 2 turns no more. Watch your fish finder and let your yak drift the channel ledge. If the terrain comes up a little then just put a turn or two on the reel when it drops back down just rinse and repeat. Small points and outcroppings where the main channel and secondary or creek channels will hold fish that are looking for current breaks. Here is a link to a video I did for the jackson crew a few years ago. https://youtu.be/vs8KJ35kBrg

These subtle outcroppings and points below were where I was fishing in the video above. I was just below the 431 bridge here on the G. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. Looking at the web app I'm thinking outside Harrison where the channel comes in close to the bank just south of the power lines might be good.
