Anyone mind helping a brother out when it comes to keep these bass alive in the livewell. I have read about ice and solutions to add to the live well. Just wondering what works best. Do you put ice directly in the live well or put a frozen bottle in there. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Channing

Get some rejuvinade or something like it, and add some frozen water bottles and you should be good to go. Just don't make the water so cold that the fish goes into shock.

Ditto on what Fishinvol said. The water in the livewell should be no more than 10 degrees cooler than the lake. Use frozen milk jugs in the livewell and the rejuvenade. Be sure that when you run with the big motor to either take out the milk jug or tie it off somehow to keep it from banging up the fish. Also, I think that the fozen jugs need to be changed about every 1.5 -2 hrs. If your livewell has a recirculate switch set it to that too. I've also heard that if you do have a good bit of fish in the livewell that the water in the well should be changed with fresh water 4 or 5 hours I believe. I don't have to worry about that problem in my boat as there's not enough fish in it to worry about. emoLaugh

Also a $60 Pro Air would help a ton keeping fresh air pumped in the wells. We use one for our cat tank and it works wonders.

I bought a $10 bubble box from Walmart that runs on two D batteries. It last forever. I put the box in a storage compartment and ran the air tube to the live well. It is a cheap solution but it works.

Do you use it to keep the bait or cats live?

Hmmm on a side note is it legal to keep cats or dogs in a live well?
