Me and Brian went up to Kentucky lake Sunday morning. Upon arriving we immediately put the boat in @ Kentucky Dam Marina. It took us 25 mins to get threw the no wake zone. After finnally getting threw wake zone we head across the river to find the cut threw to Barkley lake. Spent most of the morning fishing on Barkley and found quite a few slicks. Most came out 8'to12'water on pig and jig. The water temp in the morning was 83 and warmed up to 89 that afternoon. We did end up catching 3 keeper's out of the BArkley lake and no keeper out of Kentucky Lake. That was my first time ever on Kentucky or Barkley so I felt good that we did find fish. I'll be returning to Kentucky for some more prefishing on Aug 19th and 20th.
I do want to make all the members of the STNA that are going to the USA BAssin Classic in September to make a trip up prior to the Tournament. This is the roughes lake I ever been on. The major cause of the ruff water is all the barges staging to lock threw, yachts, jet ski and naturally the wind. It was a good trip and I already learned alot about this lake in my first trip.
If anyone has any info they would like to share about Kentucky or Barkley please PM me. I'm open to any help any one's willing to give out. Thanks, Swamp Donkey

A buddy of mine from Mn got to fish the same lake and ended up loosing gear because it was so rough. They were in a storm though and the wind KICKED all day long after it passed.

Been wondering where you were SD. Good to hear from you!

Fish the river ledges...then if that don't work fish some more river ledges...and if neither work as a last resort fish the river ledges...steepest drops you can find with rock or brush on them.

Hey SD, if you get a chance, watch the Ultimate Match Fishing series on OLN. All of the matches this year have been on Kentucky/Barkley. On the episode two weeks ago, Clausen spanked Swindle with a shaky-head. He was culling in the first round.

I have to agree on those lakes you better be on some form of drop this time of year. DD22 and carolina rigged worms have always been good to me. Find some sorta channel irregularity and work it, then go to another.

Sorry, I meant Outdoor Channel. However, tonight's show was Ike vs. Elias on Guntersville. The website may have highlights from recent Ultimate Matches on Kentucky/Barkley.

swamp donkey, where are you leaving out of when you have your tournament? The lake can be really rough, not just from the boats. If you get a wind from the north or the south, because of the north/south flow of the river on K-lake, sometimes there can be up to 8ft swells from what I have heard.
