My nephew and I took off yesterday morning to try our luck out on the Nick. We were plagued with issues from the start but ended up making a fun day out of it.
Up first, are the issues. To those who were at Sullivan's yesterday morning, my apologies!
Put the boat in, boat buckle was loosened but not unhooked so the boat wouldn't come off the trailer. emoBang
Pull out on the lake from the dock waiting on the my partner, big motor gets stuck in reverse. emoBang
Walk up on the deck to troll back to the dock, trolling motor is dead. emoBang
Got a tow back to the dock (thank you stranger!) and loaded the boat on the trailer. We fixed the big motor issue. The rod that shifts the motor into forward, neutral, and reverse and come off from its peg and wasn't shifting. I was terrified though as my prop acted like it was locked (reverse). Took off to Lookout Valley to check my trolling batteries. The oldest of which was from 2012 was done for. It looked as though it had exploded. The top was cracked and raised up off the case. emoBang
I bought 2 new trolling batteries and we headed back to the dock. emoThumbsup
Went down to Mullins Cove and threw the frog around. It was a tough bite. We had a few that cooperated but they wouldnt stay buttoned up. I also threw a swimbait on a Picasso double blade through the grass and nothing. The few that we did find hit multiple times too. We caught a few and that was all I needed to make the day better. September is not my favorite month by any stretch due to the transition. Good luck out there!
