can anyone tell me if im coming from nc down 40 west , how to get to the kingston steamplant ,where i can put a boat in and any kind of hazards one should know about ? ineed to catch some skipjack and i believe thats the closest place with any in the winter

come past the I-75/I-40 split and head to nashville ....take the midtown exit. Turn left at the end of the exit and got to the red light and turn left again. go about a mile and you`ll see signs to the steam plant. Turn to the left and go 100 ft under the overpass and you`ll see the signs ...turn right and go down the road about 1/2 mile to the back of a big parking lot right at the plant. the launch ramp is not much but it`s right there at the discharge canal and will work year round.
about the only hazard right there is when you leave the big cove of the discharge and head out to the main river . Stay to the right side going out.....not all the way right but about 3/4 of the way.... there is a long skinny spine coming off the left bank a long ways. and 30-40 feet off the right side are a few rocks. there`s a sweetspot about 75-100 feet there in the middle. Idle with motor up a little and you`ll be all right once you get in the river channel. Pay attention to the river markers and you won`t have any problems.
