I've had a bug in my Yamaha lately. Nothing that's really kept me off the water, but it's been an aggravation. It's that same old mystery "bogging down" scenario you hear people talk about so much with a variety of motors. But it's intermittent (of course), and normally only happens after I make a long, hard run (which I don't do very often).
My point here however, is not to seek help on my motor. My point is to share how darn hard the folks at Nichols Marine have worked to help me figure it out. It is still under warranty and of course I know it's really hard to fix something if you can't make it "break" on demand. The boat has been to Nichols three times over the last six weeks or so.... they've made numerous trips to the water with it (twice the problem happened for them, other times it didn't). They've put every Yamaha-certified gauge and computer monitor in the world on it, basically rebuilt fuel system from end-to-end and done every other possible diagnosis in the world. Last trip to the water they ran many gallons of gas through it and could never make it "break."
Of course they'll turn in a ticket to Yamaha for warranty work... but I know Nichols Marine won't get back anywhere near as much as they've spent in time and effort. But they are committed to "making it right."
No one can ever ask anyone for more than that.
