Tournament Report BFL LBL Div. 3-10-07

The day started cloudy but skies cleared as the day progressed. Air temp warmed to upper 60’s with light winds. Water temp in the AM was 51 degrees but warmed to 53 by the PM. Water clarity was clear and the elev. was 356.5 falling to 356.0.

All in all my co-angler and I caught over 20 bass but most of them were non-keepers. It seems I’m a better guide than a fisherman. Even though I caught most of the fish, I only had one keeper out of the lot. My co-angler only caught 3 of the fish but all 3 were keepers and weigh in at over 11 lbs. The biggest fish being a 6.0 lb LM. So needless to say he got a nice check.

The fish were relating to rocky banks in about 5-6’ of water. However, there had to be deeper water nearby. It also helped if there was wood in the area. All of the fish we caught came on a spinner bait (in shallower areas) or a finesse worm (in the deeper areas)

A story worth noting, one of the guys I know found a school of small mouth and he caught a 20+ lb string and his co-angler caught just over 19 lbs. So between he and his co-angler they had 10 small mouth weighing 40 lbs. Can you imagine catching that many big small mouth in one trip!

Wow, 40lbs of smallies sounds like fun! Hoping to get up to the big KY before the Summer is through.

Let me know when you're coming and if my schedule will allow it, I'll try to take you out and show you around one day. Also, what part of the lake are you planning to visit?
