Needed a day out, not serious fishing, but a day out with the wife. Started out near Grasshopper looking for shell cracker, nothing. Figured it was a little cool and a little low. I was RIGHT. Moved on to some very casual bass fishing. Moved into Hiwassee and caught a could of SMALL bucks while still scouting for bream beds. But, overall it was excellent. My boat is 14 months old and this is the 1st time she has been in it. The wind did pick up at the end, but we had fun..... Come on Bream beds.

I am still struggling to find them even when the time is right. I used to fish for them on KY lake a lot, but trying to find them on my home lake. I like to get some in the freezer and then go back to bass fishing.

I have found shellcracker in prespawn mode around ten feet deep off the main river channel in calm water behind the current break. When you see some blips on the depth finder, drop something down there and see if anything hits it. If it ends up being a school of yellow bass, keep all you catch. They are good eating and need to be thinned out, so the remaining fish will be larger. I hope this helps

That was only one time in april. Mostly bank fishing for White bass, yellow bass, perch, crappie and sunfish
